Amstrad have released all the roms for Sinclair models into the public domain and as such these are freely available from a number of sources. There are a number of machines in the sinclair range of home computers namely.
|ZX 80||ZX 81||Spectrum 16k(zx82)|
|Spectrum 48k(zx82)||Spectrum 128k(zx82)||Spectrum +2/+2a(zx82)|
|Spectrum + 3(zx82)||QL(zx83)||Z88(non amstrad)|
As the zx spectrum was the most popular home computer there are a plethora of emulators for various platforms. In fact such was the popularity of the zx spectrum that there are many software houses still writing games for it.
Most old sinclair spectrum games and utilities are now in public domain largely due to the efforts of a dedicated team at the world of spectrum website obtaining permission from the copyright holders. The notable exceptions to this are the Ultimate games (later became rare studios and now owned by Microsoft) and the software software houses which are now part of Sony corporation.
As the world of spectrum website has done such a superb job of collating all relevant spectrum information including an archive of all the games, utilities and scans of magazines, covers and instruction books then it would be superfluous to duplicate it here.
